Automated Editor can do a bunch of neat stuff with tags but one of the most popular uses with our beta users was the assignment of “common tags”, that is tags which we regularly use as bloggers but either sometimes forget to enter or just cba too. So here’s how you can use Automated Editor to take the pain out of tagging (at least the common stuff!)
Say your blog was about cooking, for example and you quite often use 5 main ingredients, of which you have to tag every time:
- Garlic
- Salt & Pepper
- Chilli
- Feta cheese
- Olive Oil
Forget tagging them manually (it’s not that hard but maybe you have more, and over time all these seconds are lost, you wont get these minutes back!)
Tag them like this:
- Set up a rule for each tag, e.g. “Tag post with Garlic”, “Tag post with Chilli” etc.
- Set up a schedule for each tag, e.g. “Run rule ‘garlictag’ on ‘Posts containing string Garlic’ at ‘Point of publishing’”
- Turn it on and never have to tag those words again!
It really is that simple, its done, its setup, no more tagging repetitively, no more lost time, go frolic in the fields or spend it doing something more creative than tagging a freaking post about Garlic. Enjoy.
